Days, not months: what actually changed in software delivery

The economics of software development have changed. Systems that previously required months can increasingly be designed, built and deployed in days. The constraint is now whether you understand the operation.

For twenty years, custom software was rationed by cost and calendar. You either bought a generic product and bent the business around it, or you commissioned a project that arrived after the problem had mutated.

AI-assisted engineering compresses design, build, test and integration. That is not a slogan about typing speed. It is a change in the size of problem you can afford to solve properly.

OnDraft’s warning is the same as our offer: this is not cheap generated software. If you skip mapping the process, you will simply produce the wrong system faster. We still start with the bottleneck, the systems, the data and the decisions.

When those are clear, a working slice — an integration, a workflow, a Bud-capable interface — can be in operators’ hands on a timescale that used to be reserved for clickable mockups.

“Show us the bottleneck” is the call to action because a single messy process is enough to start. We do not need a six-month digital-transformation programme to justify the first system.

Questions about this system

Is every project done in days?

Usable systems and first slices, yes — that is the design centre. A whole enterprise estate is still a sequence of those slices. We do not sell multi-month theatre as a prerequisite.

We build systems that power growth.
