# AI that takes action is a different product from a chatbot

> Bud is OnDraft’s AI employee: it understands operational context and does work across systems, rather than answering questions in a vacuum.

Your systems already know what happened. The missing layer is something that understands what it means — and can do the next step.

A chatbot can summarise a PDF. An AI employee can see that order 1047 is packed, arrange the DPD pickup, notify the customer, and mark the warehouse task complete.

That only works if the underlying systems are connected. Otherwise the model is guessing from whatever you pasted into the prompt. OnDraft therefore treats agents as the last stage of a drafted operating system, not the first slide in an AI pitch.

Bud’s job description is operational: answer questions against live state, monitor exceptions, start workflows, request missing information, contact people, update systems, remember how this business works.

We do not present Bud as a cartoon mascot on this site. It is a presence in the system — a lime node with a simple mark — because the brand idea is engineered structure, not consumer sci-fi.

## FAQs

### Will Bud act without controls?

No. We design which actions are autonomous, which need confirmation, and which stay human. Recorded process runs are part of that control.
